Seniors, scholarships are an important part of your college planning. Be sure to pick up applications for all the scholarships that you are eligible to get. Keep checking this page and the bulletin board outside the guidance office and in the library for information about available scholarships. Make a list of the scholarships that pertain to your field of study or that you are eligible for. Make sure that you fill all applications in completely and that everything you need for them is attached. Be sure to read all instructions before returning completed applications. Some applications need to be submitted directly to the organization offering the scholarship and some may be turned in to the guidance office.

Winner High School would like parents and students to know that legitimate companies never guarantee scholarships and that financial aid help and information is available free. For free financial aid help contact: Your high school counselor, or any college financial aid office. Please think seriously before spending any amount of money for financial aid help. This is money that could be used to help pay for college tuition, books, or living expenses. CHARLES HELLMANN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR FUTURE EDUCATORS: This scholarship is in honor of the teachers who strongly influenced the life of Charles Hellmann and will be used to support future educators in South Dakota. A $1,000 scholarship will be presented to any qualifying Winner High School student who is in the top half of their graduating class and is interested in becoming an educator in any area. FIRST FIDELITY BANK SCHOLARSHIP: A minimum of two $500 scholarships will be awarded to two high school seniors for each First Fidelity community. Eligible students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and plan to attend a South Dakota Institution of higher learning. Selections will be based upon academics, extracurricular involvement and need. Scholarships will be paid at the beginning of the 2nd semester. HAROLD E. SMITH SCHOLARSHIP: A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Winner High School Senior planning to obtain a degree from a South Dakota School of higher education. Preference will be given to, but not restricted, to a student showing strong aptitude for English, including drama and/or oral interpretation. RAY NEYENS SR AND GRACE NEYENS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP: A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Tripp County High School graduate planning to attend a south Dakota School of Higher education (to include industrial, technical and four-year accredited universities). JAMES & LAWRENCE NEYENS SCHOLARSHIP: 2 - $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to two Tripp County High School graduate planning to attend any school of higher education (to include industrial, technical, and four-year accredited universities in or out of state). Applicant should be respectful, of good character, strong in citizenship and community activities, participated in extracurricular activities, and have obtained suitable academic achievement. TRIPP COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP: A $300 scholarship will be presented to a qualifying Tripp County High School Senior. Eligible applicant must be planning to attend a South Dakota School of Higher Education (to include industrial, technical or four year accredited colleges and universities). TRIPP COUNTY WATER USER DISTRICT - LAWRENCE WAGNER SCHOLARSHIP: Successful applicant will receive a $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded during the first year at the beginning of second semester to the applicants institution of choice. Applicant must be a child of a member of Tripp County Water User District or a resident in one of TCWUD participating communities. The applicant must attend a South Dakota Post Secondary educational facility and have a grade point average of 2.8 or higher. ANTES FAMILY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP -

SOUTH DAKOTA ENGINEERING SOCIETY CENTRAL CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP: The Central Chapter of the South Dakota Engineering Society (SDES) is please to announce their annual scholarship. Seniors interested in becoming an engineer and will be attending a South Dakota Engineering college next year are eligible. AES SCHOLARSHIP: The consulting firm of AES Engineers is committed to continuing its support of higher education by providing scholarships to deserving students. This award is available to all students, regardless of their field of study. SDABA AG SCHOLARSHIP:
Each year, SDABA awards a total of $6,000 in scholarships to high school and/or undergraduate students majoring in agriculture at a South Dakota University or Technical School. Open to customers, employees, or family members of an employee of members of the South Dakota Agri-Business Association or Country Pride Co-op. PEO SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship is open to High School senior girls with at least a 3.0 GPA. Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page. Application deadline is - March 1st returned to the Guidance Office.

BUILD DAKOTA SCHOLARSHIP: Build Dakota Scholarships will be awarded to students entering high-need workforce programs at South Dakota's technical institutes to fill the state's technical careers with skilled professionals. The program will both grow South Dakotas own and recruit new South Dakotans. DAVID L. PROFILET SCHOLARSHIP: Winners of this award must be graduates of a South Dakota high school who plan to attend Augustana College in Sioux Falls. Additionally, successful candidates will have a GPA of 3.0 or higher; demonstrate financial need; and show character traits such as courage, determination and an ability to overcome adversity. FRED AND MARIE CHRISTOPHERSON SCHOLARSHIP:
Applicants who plan to attend a four-year college or university in South Dakota, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.9 after seven semesters, and have a minimum ACT score of 28 are eligible for this award. JOE FOSS "AN AMERICAN HERO" SCHOLARSHIP:
To be eligible for this award, applicants must plan to attend an accredited college or university or vocational or technical school; have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 of better and a minimum ACT score of 21; and demonstrate characteristics of an American patriot. Available to seniors graduating from South Dakota high schools. Applications are available by visiting www.afacf.org Award: $1,000 Application deadline is - March 15, 2018.

KIMBERLY ROSE MEANS - NATIVE AMERICAN COUNCIL OF TRIBES SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship benefits graduating high school seniors who are enrolled members of a South Dakota Native American tribe or South Dakota tribal members who are returning to school after an absence. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited college, university or vocational school; have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 of higher; have participated in school and community activities (only applies to high school seniors); and have the desire and ability to accomplish his or her goals. OSMANN FAMILY NATIVE AMERICAN SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship benefits graduating South Dakota high school seniors who are enrolled members of a Native American tribe. Applicants must plan to attend a college in the South Dakota university system or a vocational or technical school in Sioux Falls, Watertown, Mitchell, or Rapid City and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher after seven semesters of high school. GORDON K. HORGEN MEMORIAL SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship is meant to honor the legacy of scientific education brought to students of Winner High School by Gordon Horgen during his 41-year career as an educator and mentor in the various sciences. Gordon taught at Winner High School from 1961-2002. he was an outstanding chemistry and physics teacher and was easily recognized wearing his trademark white lab coat. Mr. Horgen was also the first computer teacher at WHS. In 1971, Gordon was named the SD Outstanding Young Educator and in 1987 he was presented the SD Outstanding Physical Science Teacher Award by the SD Academy of Science. Mr. Horgen was described as the consummate teacher, always looking for a way to reach students and to help them find success. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a qualifying Winner High School student who plans to attend a school of higher education (to include industrial, technical, and four-year accredited universities) and will be pursuing a college degree in a scientific or mathematical field including anyone planning to become a science or math teacher. The scholarship will be paid to the registrar of the college or university at the beginning of the second semester of education. Please return your completed application, an official copy of your high school transcript, resume and two sealed letters of recommendation from teachers, one of whom is a science or math instructor, to our high school guidance counselor. OSCAR & ROSE PRAVECEK FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP: The family of Oscar & Rose Pravecek has established a fund in their honor. They enjoyed a successful lifestyle in the Winner area. This scholarship is for the benefit of deserving graduating students from Winner High School under the following terms and conditions. Selection of students shall be based on pursuing an Ag-related field or vocation, be returning to an ag area, or be a participating 4-H member. CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS COURT MARY IMELDA #1014 SCHOLARSHIP:

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH SCHOLARSHIP:
One $200.00 scholarship will be presented to a qualifying high school senior upon registration at the school of their choice. Applicant must be a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. ESA ALPHA PHI ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP:
One $200 competitive academic scholarship awarded each year. Not open to children or grandchildren of ESA Alpha Phi members. Must be a senior in Winner High School planning post high school education. Student must have 3.0 GPA. Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page. Application deadline is - the second Thursday of March by the end of the school day returned to the Guidance Office. 

ESA BETA ALPHA SCHOLARSHIP:  
 This scholarship is available to Winner High School seniors planning ro pursue a post high school education.  Eligible applicants must have a GPA of at least 2.0  Award is based on need of applicant and their non academic and/or volunteer work.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline is - March 16th of graduation year.

GOLDEN WEST TELECOMMUNICATIONS SCHOLARSHIP:    Scholarship awards will be one ear, $1,000 scholarships.  The Golden West Telecommunications Scholarship Program will offer a total of 45 awards.  Each high school will be eligible to receive one award.  The student's parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must reside within one of the Golden West Telephone service areas (see enclosed list) and subscribe to a Golden West service (phone, internet, cablevision).  The applicant must be a high school senior and have taken the Scholarship aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT) at an examination center of their choice no later than December 1 of their senior year.  Scholarship awards may be applied to post-secondary institutions and begin attending the institution the fall immediately following graduation with 12 or more credits.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.  Applications for 2018 graduates must be completed and returned to the designated school official by March 15, 2018.

ORDER OF EASTERN STAR/MASONS SCHOLARSHIP:

CLASS OF 1962 SCHOLARSHIP:   The Winner High School Class of 1962 is offer in two (2) scholarships in the amount of $250 each.  The following qualifications must be met by the applicant.  A Senior at Winner High School accepted to a Technical Institute or  two (2) year or four (4) year college within the State of South Dakota.  Provide the name of the graduating member of the WHS Class of 1962 to whom you are a blood relative and tell relationship.   (List of graduating class is included with applications).  Involved as a volunteer in at least two (2) community activities and/or recognized high school extra curricular activities.  Application is available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.   Application deadline is - April 15 returned to the Guidance Office by noon.

PHEASANTS FOREVER SCHOLARSHIP:   
 A $250 scholarship will be awarded directly to the recipient for the fall semester.  Applicant must be a Tripp County High School senior planning to attend a 2 or 4 year university or technical school.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline is - April 15 returned to the Guidance Office.

MISSOURI RIVER ENERGY SERVICES SCHOLARSHIP:    Applicants to the Missouri River Energy Services Scholarship Program must meet all criteria in one of two areas:  High school seniors who reside in a household receiving electrical power and services from a Missouri River Energy Service member utility.  Residence eligibility may be clarified by calling the city utility office.  Eligible high schools are designated by Missouri River Energy Services.  Must be planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-or-four-year college, university or vocational-technical school no later than the fall of 2018.  Or students who are applying or already enrolled at a pre-selected technical college majoring in a full-time Powerline/Line worker program no later than fall of 2018.   Applicants do not need to reside in a household receiving electrical power and services from MRES member utility.  Eligible technical colleges include the following:  Dakota County Technical College - Rosemont, MN; Minnesota State Community and Technical College - Wadena, MN;  Minnesota West Community and Technical College - Jackson, MN;  Mitchell Technical Institute - Mitchell, SD; Northwest Iowa Community College - Sheldon, IA.  The guidelines and application are available online at http://www.mrenergy.com/services/scholarships ;  Postmark deadline date to submit applications is March 15.  Applications should be mailed to the address below which is also indicated in the program guidelines:  Missouri River Energy Services Scholarship Program, Scholarship America, One Scholarship Way, Saint Peter, MN 56082.

W.H. STURGES SCHOLARSHIP:   
Applicants for this scholarship must be a senior or an alumnus of Winner School District 59-2.  Student must be planning to go into a health related field of study.  Applicant must attend a South Dakota Institute of higher education including technical training.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline is - May 2nd returned to the Guidance Office.

SOUTHERN BELLE CATTLEWOMEN SCHOLARSHIP:   
This $500 scholarship is available to any Tripp or Todd County High School graduate, who plans to attend a school of higher education, in order to pursue a career in an agricultural related field.  This scholarship is to be used for the Spring semester following high school graduation.  Applications are available y clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline is - April 17th returned to the Guidance Office.

SD AVIATION ASSOCIATION & DJ FISCHER FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP:     
The South Dakota Aviation Asociation (SDAA) is an organization comprised of Aerial Applicators and allies from associated industries doing business in South Dakota.  In an effort to assist young people in South Dakota pursuing higher education, the SDAA will award one or multiple scholarships up to the amount of $3,000 annually, if the criteria is met by one or more applicants.  The SDAA Board of Directors will select the winner(s).  The DJ Fischer Foundation is an organization founded in memory of DJ Fischer, who was an Aerial Applicator,  that invests in youth and communities.  They will award an additional $1,000 scholarship to one or more applicants meeting the criteria.  The DJ Fischer Foundation Board members will select the winner(s).  All applicants must be sponsored by a SDAA Member.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline is - No later than March 15, 2018 and mailed to the following address:  South Dakota Aviation, 30977 165th Street, Gettysburg, SD 57442.

WINNER AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP:

INSURING A BRIGHTER TOMORROW FARMERS UNION INSURANCE SCHOLARSHIP:  
 South Dakota high school seniors seeking funds to attend post-secondary eduction at a South Dakota college, university or technical school are eligible.  Open to Farmers Union Insurance Policyholders, South Dakota Farmers Union Members, Friends of the SDFU Foundation (Defined as a contribution of $25 or more during the past year), or a participant in any South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) sanctioned activity.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline is - March 1 returned to Farmers Union Insurance Agency, Attn:  Jenny Doerr, PO Box 1388, Huron, SD 57350.

JOHN FORKENBROCK EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP:   
The John Forkenbrock Scholarship was established by the Impact Schools of South Dakota.  Mr. Forkenbrock dedicated years of service ensuring funding and quality educational program for Impact Schools of South Dakota.  the scholarship will recognize a high school senior from a district that is a member of the Impact Schools of South Dakota entering the education field whose plan is to be a teacher.  This is a $500 scholarship.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline is - March 9, 2018 submitted to : Maxine Schochenmaier, 27032 Split Creek Court, Sioux Falls, SD 57108.

WINNER VFW AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP:     
One $500 scholarship will be presented to one qualifying high school senior upon registration of their choice.  Student must have a cumulative grade point average of not less than 2.5 and be a child, grandchild, or sister/brother of a veteran.  Any veteran who has gone back to high school and is graduating may also apply.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline is - April 1 2018 returned to the Guidance Office or mailed to:  Connie Heggestad, PO Box 388, Winner, SD 57580.

TOWN & COUNTRY WOMEN'S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP:

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL #2702 SCHOLARSHIP:  
One scholarship will be presented to a qualifying High School Senior boy upon registration at the college or vocational school of his choice.  Applicant must be a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Winner or the Church of St. Isadore in Colome, or a son of a member of the Knights of Columbus.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline is - April 15 returned to the Guidance Office.

WINNER UNITED METHODIST CHURCH SCHOLARSHIP:   
Applicants for this scholarship must be members of the Winner United Methodist Church at the time of this application.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.   Application deadline is Tuesday, April 17th by noon returned to the church office.

GARY MOSER SCHOLARSHIP:

USA SOFTBALL OF SOUTH DAKOTA SCHOLARSHIP:   
The USA Softball of South Dakota Scholarship Program has been established to award scholarships to those who have participated in USA Softball of South Dakota & desire to further their education.  These participants must have participated in the USA Softball of South Dakota sanctioned programs for at least 3 years as a player, coach, umpire, USA Softball of South Dakota official, or in a official capacity of a USA Softball of South Dakota sanctioned team or league.  Applicants must be 19 years of age or younger and be a graduating senior from an accredited high school during the year of application.  This scholarship may be granted to a family member of USA Softball of South Dakota member who is physically challenged as determined by the American Disabilities Act passed on July 25, 1990.  Scholarships must be used in one of the following types of accredited post-high school institution:  College, University, or Vocational Technical School.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline is - April 1 returned to USA Softball of SD Junior Commissioner Carol Pipgras, 804 S. STATEWIDE AG INSURANCE SCHOLARSHIP:

KEITH AND GENEICE GEBHART FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP:   
One $500 scholarship will be presented to a Winner High School senior.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline is - April 15 returned to the Guidance Office.

BMW ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP:

DONALD AND BARBARA MOZLEY SCHOLARSHIP:

DON AND VICKY HANCOCK SCHOLARSHIP:

NAIDA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS:

WINNER REGIONAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP:

FIRST DISTRICT DEVELOPMENT COMPANY SCHOLARSHIP:   
First District Development Company, South Dakota's small business finance partner, is pleased to offer five - $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing a post-secondary degree in a business/finance related field.  Applicant must be a high school senior attending a South Dakota high school and be accepted into a business/finance program at an accredited, post-secondary institution in South Dakota.  You must have a 3.5 GPA or greater, calculated on a 4.0 grading scale.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline is - postmarked by April 6th and mailed to First District Development Company, Attn:  Paula Hulscher, PO Box 1207, Wtertown, SD 57201.

THE RICHARD JANAK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:   
The family of Richard "Dick" Janak offers a $1,000 scholarship for a WHS senior or a WHS alumnus.  Applicant must be planning to attend USD.  Preference may be given to the following:  3.0 GPA and involved in at least 3 extra curricular activities.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline is - April 25th returned to the Guidance Office.

DALLAS CARES SCHOLARSHIP:

BRENDA LAMBLEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:   
This $500 scholarship will be awarded annually to an area graduate that plans to attend secondary education in any state.  This award will be granted to the selected individual at the beginning of their second semester in the first year.  Brenda was a strong supporter of the area youth in education and activities and was always there to lend a helping hand in any way possible.  She believed in hard work and honesty in being a successful adult.  Beyond attending secondary education the applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 and have participated in extra-curricular activities during the course of high school.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline is - May 1st and returned to Brenda Lambley Memorial Scholarship, c/o Dillon Lambley, 29207 SD Hwy 47, Burke, SD 57523.

OSCAR & ROSE PRAVECEK MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP:     
This $500 scholarship will be awarded to a senior of Winner High School who has demonstrated an interest and dedication to music.  Applicant must reside in the Winner School District.  Applicant must have been actively involved in the music department in the Winner School District for at least 2 years of high school chorus and/or band.  Applicant must have demonstrated academic achievement, a minimum of 2.5 GPA based on a 4.0 system.  Scholarships may be used for programs at four-year colleges and universities, community colleges, trade or vocational schools.  Applications are available by clicking the yellow highlighted PDF link at the top of this page.  Application deadline has been extended to - April 15th by 3:30 pm turned in to the Guidance Office.
