MARY STILL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:
Still will be a stranger to most of the students who are awarded this scholarship. Perhaps this short description will help you know and appreciate her. For almost 30 years Mary had a beauty salon in the basement of her modest home on Main Street. At the age of 85 she was still doing hair at the Winner Regional Long-Term Care Center for what she referred to as “the old people”. School and education were important to her. She liked to see people succeed in their education. For many years she was the only member of the class of 1930 that came to roll call at the Winner High School Homecoming Coronation. This scholarship is a gift from her. In July of 2017 Mary died at the age of 106. She outlived all her siblings, their spouses, and her friends whose hair she had done. The fact that this woman who owned her own beauty salon in Winner for many years was able to leave a gift of this magnitude is remarkable and inspirational. This gift she will not only help recipients further their education but will leave a legacy of what hard work and commitment can accomplish.
A minimum of - $1,000 scholarship(s) will be awarded to a Winner High School student who plans to attend a school of higher education (to include industrial, technical, and four-year accredited universities). Applicants should be students who are interested in furthering their education in any field of their choice.  To complete a fillable PDF application click on the highlighted link at the top of this page.
